History
Whilst studying history at Anns Grove, pupils develop their knowledge and understanding of the history of the UK and the wider world from the earliest times to the present day.
The school’s curriculum is sequenced such that pupils learn about a wide range of eras, themes and places which allow them to appreciate the nature of ancient civilisations, understand significant local events and develop a broad and varied chronological understanding of the past.
The teaching of history has a rigorous focus on the acquisition of key historical skills, knowledge and vocabulary, relevant to pupils’ age and ability. Pupils engage with a range of high quality primary and secondary sources which they are able to discuss and interpret so as to be able to draw their own conclusions about the past.
History lessons are engaging, inclusive of all abilities and encourage debate and discussion. Pupils expand their cultural capital and understanding of the local area through trips to historical sites and working alongside visitors to the school.
