Geography
Whilst studying at Anns Grove, pupils develop a broad understanding and appreciation of the physical and human geography of their local area, the United Kingdom and the wider world.
The curriculum is sequenced such that pupils will gradually build a broad base of factual knowledge about the features of different landscapes, natural processes and a range of human societies. In addition to this, they will gain a wide set of subject-specific skills such as taking measurements, map reading and conducting fieldwork that enable them to investigate and interpret the world around them.
Lessons are rich with vocabulary and texts which allow them not only to develop their geographical knowledge, but also improve their ability to express their ideas confidently and articulately.
Geography lessons are engaging, inclusive of all abilities and encourage debate and discussion.
Pupils expand their cultural capital and understanding of the local area through trips to geographical sites and working alongside visitors to the school. All geographical topics throughout the school include opportunities for outdoor learning where possible.
