At Anns Grove, French is taught to all pupils in Key Stage 2.

To ensure teachers are confident in the material they are teaching, the ‘Salut’ scheme of work is followed. This maps onto the national curriculum and ensures that all the proscribed knowledge and skills are taught and revisited where necessary. This scheme of work focuses mainly on speaking and listening, but also incorporates elements of reading and writing into weekly lessons.

To maintain engagement, lessons are short and snappy and focus on conversational work, games, songs and problem-solving activities.

French lessons are inclusive with scaffolding and differentiation provided where necessary to ensure that all children, regardless of their ability are both challenged and supported.
